Steve Garbarino (left), Editor-in-Chief of BlackBook magazine, is moving on to a position as Editor-at-Large of Maxim. Garbarino has been instrumental in making BlackBook a notable, inspirational player in a crowded media space. Ray Rogers (right) has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of BlackBook effective following the close of the August issue. The magazine’s former Features Editor worked hand-in-hand with Garbarino over the past two years to build the BlackBook brand. Rogers brings a formidable background in journalism, including a ten-year history at Interview magazine, and key positions at Manhattan File, OUT, and In Touch Weekly.

Sure, everyone loves (loves! LOVE IT) the Maxim Hot 100, a tabulation of cheesecake culled from movies, television, music, and porn. We realize that this is our second Scarlett Johansson-related post of the day, but that’s true love—something you wouldn’t understand.

Robert Mondavi, the wine master who put California grapes on the map, died this morning at the age of 94. In his 1998 autobiography, Harvests of Joy, he wrote, “My passion for bringing wine into the American culture was motivated by a desire to plant deep into the soil of our young country the same values, traditions, and daily pleasures that my mother and father had brought with them from central Italy: good food, good wine, and love of family." Amen to that.

This might be one of the greatest works of fiction of all time ever—up there with the Bible, the Constitution, and those books about the blonde siblings who slept together in their attic. In the afterword to Goodnight Bush, a parodic re-telling of Goodnight Moon, writers Erich Origen and Gan Golan explain, "In 1946, George W. Bush was born; one year later, Goodnight Moon was first published." Obviously, this is no coincidence.

Google “How 'Sex and the City' ruined New York” and you’ll find Time Out’s list of the things “you can officially blame on 'SATC'” or the New York Post’s reasons that “Carrie and Co. ruined NYC.” The folks over at EW.com don’t see it like that. In a celebration of the show’s “fifth lady”—no, not Jennifer Hudson—they’ve doodled a playful map of the Isle of Manhattan, complete with 41 pinpoints of where the girls laughed, lived, and loved. It’s also a relief to know that we’re not the only ones who see that giant rabbit next to Magnolia Bakery.

Topping the list of my pet peeves are people who wear sunglasses that look absurd, but right under that are those who wear glasses that are inappropriately shaped for their face.
