My lovely French editorial assistant was complaining this morning that her shipment of five iconic Obama triptych prints ordered six months ago never arrived. "Compleet and udder bullsheet," she cooed. "Yes We Can? He sure did. With my money, too!" Apparently the campaign store picked up and ran with the cash. And those posters. God, those posters! Just when we thought they were gone, those now ubiquitous prints that have seeded deeply into the pop culture lexicon, are back. And artist Shepard Fairey is still riding that wave all the way to the bank.

Fairey, one of GQ's Men of the Year, has trained his eye (and bank account) on Obama's inauguration, making plenty of change with posters, shirts, mugs, and anything else he can cash in on. "Be The Change," reads the commemorative poster. "Shepard Fairey has captured the hope and excitement that is building across the country for President-elect Obama's Inauguration," says inaugural committee spokesman Brent Colburn. "We are grateful that he has offered his unique talent and vision to help mark this historic event." You can buy them signed ($500), or shop outside the box and check out other politics and inaugural gear at Cafe Press, Political Americana, and the Culture Shop. If you attend the swearing-in ceremony and join the masses huddled together for warmth in the nip-freezing cold, you might want to consider the simple, stately "1-20-09" caps at Cafe Press.
