Beth Ditto to Design 80s-Inspired Line
January 26, 2009
Gossip frontwoman Beth Ditto won’t solely be making waves in the fashion world come spring by gracing the cover of Love, the not-yet-released Condé Nast newbie that boasts Pop's Katie Grand at its helm. According to Grazia, the outspoken, infinitely revered singer will dabble in design thanks to a partnership with Brit brand Evans. The line in question, which includes “‘80s-inspired ... oversized T-shirts, studded handbags, colorful graphic dresses with domino prints and oversized knitwear,” is slated to hit stores this July.
The line has all of the potential to be a bona fide hit. Not only is Ditto a fashion icon as a result of her inimitable, often outlandish aesthetic. By the sound of it, her line will fit right in line with the 80s styles dominating retailers’ spring lines—from McQueen for Target and Topshop to fellow songstress-turned-designer M.I.A.’s own namesake collection.
