Breaking in to the André Balazs Apartment

It sometimes escapes us that not everyone in the world lives in New York. Every now and again we’re reminded. Last night, at the former palatial SoHo apartment of André Balazs and Katie Ford—it was also apparently the featured house on “Making the Band!"—we were perched on low-lying couches next to a friend, while nearby gawkers whisper-screamed: “There’s Alexandra Richards!” “Look at Olivia Palermo’s shoes!” “Who’s that next to Annabel Vartanian? No, not Luigi. Is that Justin Giunta? No, no, behind Ferjani. Kristian! Kisses!” My friend leans in and asks, “So, like, where are all the celebrities?”
But they were there, even if we couldn’t quite explain why exactly they were famous.
Manhattan socialites came out in droves to celebrate Timo! wallets and Lizzie Fortunato Jewelry, at a fête hosted by KiptonArt and Culture+Travel Magazine. The stuff was actually pretty great (as were the Christiania Vodka cocktails being tossed back en masse). Timo Weiland’s wallets, small, thin numbers with splashes of brilliant color, were scattered around the apartment—by the cheese plate, on a table, in our back pocket. Fortunato’s jewels were also on display, as were the sisters themselves. One of their friends came in late, frazzled, trying to place a Fortunato headpiece atop her mop. “Just fucking great! I can’t even wear my friend’s design to her own party.” Despite her apprehension, she (and those behind the event) seem to have gotten everything just right.
