Charlotte Ronson Lends Cool Points to JCPenny

JCPenny isn’t exactly cool or cutting-edge. But the major chain is banking that an exclusive capsule collection courtesy of Charlotte Ronson (the NYC-based fashion designer and twin to Samantha) might change that. Considering JCP’s last collaboration -- a capsule line with Kimora Lee Simmons which debuted in July and was termed “inappropriate and misguided” -- the retailer is looking for a bit of damage control.
WWD describes the partnership as a “long-term deal,” one that will see Ronson produce a “full contemporary sportswear collection called ‘I [Heart] Ronson’.” The collection’s price point seems to be on par with competitors like H&M and Target: “$15 for layering T-shirts and tanks to $26 to $44 for blouses, sweaters and jeans to $40 to $65 for dresses and jackets.” Considering Ronson already designs a slightly more pricey collection for Urban Outfitters (Play by C. Ronson) as well as her own, even higher-priced namesake line, now you can land her hippie-meets-Studio 54, flirty, feminine frocks at basically any price point.
