Lay off Heigl. She didnt even say some of the things you prescribe and certainly not in that many. She said Knocked Up was a little sexist and explained why, but she also said she hoped women realised that the character exaggerations made the humor.  She NEVER said that Grey’s Anatomy was badly written, just that the material she was given that season was not Emmy worthy. She was right as well..and being kind..her storyline was a disaster that season...in the opener she rescued a DEER in a hospital. Come on! Finally the 17 hour day was clearly her just joking about with Letterman. In fact at the press conference a few days before she told the press the same thing and was at pains to point out she was joking because it might not come across in print. Little did she realise the idiots in the media would pounce on her again because she was the punch bag of the moment. That doesn’t excuse Vergara of course..

Apparently that type of joke isn’t offensive in Sofia’s native Spanish. But she should have known better. She should offer a contrite apology.

Also, it was unprofessional of her to forget a costar’s name. Still, Ms Bowen and Chelsea were gratuitous in their insults to Sofia in a way that came across as catty, jealous, and did not reflect well on either of them.

How this joke not offensive in her native Spanish? In the Spanish language rape jokes are okay? That doesn’t even make sense lol. Spanish is a language not a culture or nationality.

You have it all wrong. I watched both interviews and Sofia did not forget Julie Bowen’s name. She simply pronounced it wrong(due to her accent). And, Julie did not call Sofia a “Charo Barbie” but a Cholo Barbie....which should have been Chola Barbie if you want to say this offensive statement correctly!....All of Julie’s comments on Chelsea lately were offensive!!!!...And I quote,"In the same way hispanic fellows in the kitchen crawl out when you go to dinner with Sofia...Chewy am I right like if I went out to dinner and you were washing dishes...”. At one point she even asked for Chelsea to step in because the interview was going south....and chelsea even added..."it’s ok he’s from Mexico and it naturally goes south”. Why was nothing said about this interview!!!!!!!!!

Cameron, come on, we’re spanish not stupid. We wouldn’t describe it as offensive, but as ‘’out of context’’ and inappropiate.

For real, lay off Heigl. Sarcasm doesn’t translate in print. And as far as Julie goes, the reason no one said anything about that interview, was because it was on Chelsea Lately. I mean really? Have you seen that show? It’s all about dogging celebrities and it’s funny as hell. Nothing about it is serious. So chill.

Anonymous: I was told by people referring to themselves as Spanish speaking on the internet that Sofia’s remark wouldn’t be objectionable in her native language.

Also, you’re on EXTREMELY thin ice if you’re implying I consider Spanish-speakers to be stupid. I hope you have more character than that, then again, one encounters all kinds on the internet.

Julie Bowen’s comments were extremely racist and I for one am appalled by the fact that no one has said anything about this. She should be fired and fined. What if she had said the N-word? Latinos deserve just as much respect as any other minority and Bowen should be reprimanded.
