Diplo Makes People (and Pizza) Dance @ Webster Hall
October 17, 2008
It’s usually not until the post-party wee hours that the munchies hit full force and a fourth meal becomes inevitable. But at the Mad Decent Tour’s line up show at Webster Hall last night, pizza was dancing through everyone’s minds -- and dancing on the stage for that matter. A full slice of cheese with toppings showed off some fancy footwork for the crowd while Diplo, the mastermind behind some popular M.I.A. tracks, spun his eclectic mix of beats from rave-worthy electronica to hip-hop hits for an 18-and-over crowd. The energetic party kids did their best not to spill beer on their buddies while jamming out to Diplo’s erratic switch-ups, from upbeat mash-ups to slow early 90s reggae jams. The crowd couldn’t resist inching onto the stage to grind with the dancing pizza, and by the end of Diplo’s set, it was safe to say that everyone had an absolute slice.
