Eau de Daphne Guinness Coming Soon
July 31, 2009
Fashion maven Daphne Guinness' perfume for Comme des Garcons is slated to hit stores in September. In light of her upcoming fragrance debut, the ever-endearing, perpetually dressed-to-the-nines heiress spoke to Women's Wear Daily about her personal style as well as her scent leanings (although, sadly, no word was spoken about Guinness' "sexy viral short").
Of her personal style, she calls it “regular. Stuff that fits.” As for scents, she says, they can be deceiving: “sometimes when you fall in love with people, you actually fall in love with their smell.” She also, it turns out, uses the word “golly.” In reference to when Comme des Garcons first approached her about doing a fragrance, Guinness recalls having responded with, “golly, that’s so great, that’s so cool, but I know nothing about the technical aspect of this.” While she’s expanded her skill set significantly since then, don’t expect Guinness to start thinking up ways to expand her empire anytime soon. “Don’t ask me about marketing or any of that because I have absolutely no idea. The only thing I can do is create.”

I’m a little skeptical as to what hand she actually had in the creation of the perfume, but I’m willing to look the other way because she’s so incredibly fabulous. Why can’t more heiresses just “be” these days (think Millicent Rogers, Barbara Hutton, Doris Duke)?
