Old But Not Cheap: eLuxury Stocks Vintage Menswear
October 15, 2008
Thanks in large part to the economy’s recent downturn, the vintage clothing business is booming. And mega online retailer eLuxury is looking to cash in on the renewed interest in secondhand styles. Now, alongside the likes of Martin Margiela and Marc Jacobs, eLuxury is stocking one-of-a-kind pieces, like 1970s polyester and Western shirts of which John Wayne would approve.
eLuxury’s stock comes from San Francisco’s La Rosa Vintage Boutique. While the goods are lightly worn, they’re not exactly steals. A mod-meets-Playboy Mansion brocade jacket is priced at $400, and some of the polyester shirts will run you upwards of $200. At the same time, they are all entirely original, not to mention significantly kinder to the environment and sweatshop dwellers than something brand spanking new.

This stuff is priced to the absolute limit. There are still places to get one off super fine vintage at literally pennies on the dollar. Try Hepcat Deluxe and see what I mean. You will never have to pay these ridiculous prices again.
