Publicity stunts for tourism are getting wilder and wilder. First we had the "Send an entire town to Vegas!" PR move, and now Australia is getting worldwide recognition for their latest campaign, "Get paid to snorkel, blog, and basically hang the fuck out on Hamilton Island."

This sweet deal also comes with a salary just over $100,000 for a six-month gig of strolling the white sandy beaches, snorkeling, and hanging out at the oceanfront villa, all the while blogging and posting photos of the experience. As of today, 200 people have applied, though the tourism board expects thousands more by the application deadline of February 22. The sweet life starts July 1. If this opportunity is for a blogger, why not have their blog be the application?
There are a lot of capable people out there without access to video equipment.
And, if their blog will be their voice, it would seem that to be the most important.
