Global Entry Program Comes to O’Hare

For the price of your fingerprints, $100, and a lengthy application (complete with a background check) you can travel faster through international airport securities in seven major airports, courtesy of the Global Entry Program. This month O'Hare joins JFK, HAS, IAD, LAX, MIA, and ATL in offering a speedy entry into the country for in-bound US citizens. Travelers move through customs faster, and the government gets to keep tighter tabs on who's entering the country. Those who are members of the program get to bypass the long entry lines and head to the Global Entry kiosk, where they will provide their fingerprints and declare any items electronically. With 5,000 members enrolled so far, the program is set to expand to 13 more airports in 2009. Those with criminal backgrounds need not apply.
