Was this a paid-for publicity article? I don’t think Bloc Group is doing so hot right now. For the past 3 months Jordan has been calling my partner EVERY week trying to steal and get him on board, using the same generic message each time, for celeb/talent booking and event promotions. That’s desperation. I can’t imagine why someone successful would be so despondent.

i think the point of the blog was that they are a group which does multiple parties in a single night and that in doing so have transcended the traditional role of “promoter”. it is my gig to report how the business works and how different people feed at the trough of nightlife. i wont get drawn into the inane debate of which promoter or promotional team is better than the next. i will report on 2 young people who have opted out of a traditional career path and have chosen nightlife. and for the record the pecking order is......

cockroach, rat, mosquito, fly, maggot, pigeon, agent, promoter, d.o.t. employee,

and for the record , to date i have accepted a grand total of 0 dollars from any source including joonbug and blackbook for my posts. my opinions and viewpoints are my own and i will never take a bribe or gift meant to influence my opinion. that being said im looking for an apartment and size 10 kicks and i love puerto rico… :)

steve good points.  And these are two genuinely good and intelligent guys in a business that is sorely lacking in these departments.

hey great article steve! i enjoyed your different perspective and angle on the traditional nightclub “promoter” interview. it’s always great to read about how people are making a living in this crazy industry.

Steve this is an interesting article, but I can’t shake the fact that you know tons of people who do this already (Richie R, David N, Manny, Pavan, John Z to name a few). Bloc Group is one of those groups that when they join a party, its a good sign that the club is on the way out. They have profited from a relationship with Danny A, but in reality they have run a few places into the ground (Gypsy Tea?). While I think its still an interesting read...these guys are not representative of all that much in the “huge success” column.

You’re out of your mind if you put Richie Romero, David N, Manny, Pavan, Johnny Z as promoters with a better track record and crowd than Jordan and Matthew.  Are you still living in the year 2000?
