Xtravaganza Finale: Pictures Worth a Million Words

View Gallery OMG, OMG, OMG. OK, OK, OK, enough with the Xtravaganza Ball, some shall say. Well, maybe so -- but I was just sent these photos from the amazing photographer Kevin Tachman (check out his blog Backstage AT), and I just had to share them with you. This is more in the way of a rebuke rather than my usual attempt at enlightenment. If you didn't go, you missed something special, and the next ball must be on your to-do list or your ta-dah list. Look at these images and look at the faces in the crowd -- people were roaring in delight. I want my audience to roar with delight when they venture out, and I just don't see that very often from the same ol' same ol' nightspot offerings.

Tonight that mean green party machine Greenhouse will celebrate one year of earthly and unearthly delights. Doug E. Fresh and some “special guests” will perform. DJs include Stretch Armstrong, Cosmo Baker, Eli Escobar, Mr. Mauricio, Jus Ske, and Rashad Hayes. My main man—the dapper, dashing, and delightful Mark Baker—has asked me to attend, and I rarely say no to him. Jon B has plied me with a dozen of his famous “oh come ons” to write about this gala, and I have steadfastly refused him. He’s fun to bother. I did not design Greenhouse, although I hear I did all the time. I did do the layout before the design team came aboard; I also brokered the deal between Jon and the previous players. So I am entwined in the Green scene and will be there tonight. Afterwards I will be found (in case you are looking for me) at subMercer, where the always loopy Lupe Ramos will host what figures to be a beautiful bash. It’s described as a sort of anything goes old skool dance-a-thon. DJs Alex Daniel (Boom Boom Room) and Max Pask (Rose Bar) will bring their eclectic sets and seriously cool hot crowds to my favorite haunt. I don’t know why I’m even telling you all this, as it’s going to be a real tough door. If you have any trouble getting in, tell them your sleeping with me. They’ll believe you.

Today, BlackBook’s Eiseley Tauginas and myself are launching a relationship advice column. Me giving advice on relationships is like a Bedouin giving advice on snow conditions. My attitude towards my current dating situation was described delightfully by one of my idols, Brittney Spears: “I don’t understand the whole dating thing. I know right off the bat if I’m interested in someone, and I don’t want them to waste their money on me and take me out to eat if I know I’m not interested in that person.”
I have been married twice, with both leaving not with malice, hatred or even ill intent, but merely pity. Eiseley is one of those real writers BlackBook allows me to play with. She has a heart of gold, and advice from her will be really useful albeit probably saccharine sweet. I will answer each query honestly, telling it as I see it. I, of course, will pull no punches. Some of the good folk at BlackBook think it will be funny, like I’m a clown here to amuse you.
