I was on the aggregate pretty pleased with The Gates. There is something to be said for out of the way locations, no? After all, once upon a time Bungalow was in a pretty off-the-beaten path location. And despite gentrification in the area, Goldbar has been a resounding success despite a somewhat off the beaten path locale. Chloe nor Ella are located in an East Village that hasn’t really catered to the clientele they try to attract. Granted, you can make strong arguments more people would rather hang out in the East Village than the no man’s land of Chelsea, but none of those places are teeming with nightlife foot traffic at night in any event.

i too often seek out that hidden gem. i remember when freemans was a novelty and of course bungalow as well but this location is different. the other joints you mention have neighborhoods with restaurants and bars and other distractions and feeds. bungalow was in a hooker strip and had a warehouse sexiness. this is right on 8th avenue and just hasn’t worked. i think if they had spend more than 99 dollars on it and gad lit the ancient stone and woods properly or had the sound working.. anyway i’ll give them a preview pass and revisit. thx
