Gucci’s “Cruise Wear” for Earth Mamas

Hippie chic will never die. It was strange when Debra Tate -- sister of Sharon Tate, the actress and wife of director Roman Polanski who was savagely murdered by the Manson Family in 1969 -- started telling press that she liked to take out her dead sister's frocks and smell them. Stranger still when she rolled out a line of 1960s-style dresses inspired by her dead sister. Now it seems the hippie era has locked in on our collective fashion conscience, with Gucci leading the way with "cruise wear" -- a line that resembles billowy frocks favored by any number of hippie chicks wandering the parking lot at a Grateful Dead show.
“I had in mind for this collection a very precise image of Talitha Getty in the 1970s on her terrace of her villa in Marrakesh,” says Gucci designer Frida Giannini, referring to the iconic photo [above] of John Paul Getty’s Boho actress wife. “So I had very long kaftans, very printed and colorful embroidery ... all this mixed together represents this idea of colorful, of play and hippy chic.” Lucky you!

John Clark you are an idiot. It is not strange at all to smell the clothing to remind someone of a loved one who has died. Wait until you lose your mother or close relative, obviously you haven’t so why don’t you keep your judgemental insensitive comments to yourself.
