How Long Will Madonna’s Candy Last?

Two hips and a hurray for Madonna Ciccone, whose album Hard Candy was the top-selling record its first week out with 280,273 units sold, beating Mariah Carey and her Empire State-tampering tactics.
That means there are 280,273 people who are either a) die-hard Madonna fans and must own every piece of the Material Girl’s material, b) die-hard Justin Timberlake fans and must own anything involving him, Black Eyed Peas albums included, c) without internet access, or d) with internet access but suffer from file-sharing illiteracy. But good for Madonna, who’s gone from saving African orphans to single-handedly rescuing the record industry—for now. We’ll have to wait and see if Madonna’s Candy is more gobstopper than jelly-bean.
