Isaac Mizrahi Bids Target Adieu
October 23, 2008
After five years together, fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi is saying ta-ta to Target, says the Detroit Free Press. Given Mizrahi’s new gig as the chief creative director of Liz Claiborne, it’s not especially surprising he would have neither the time nor the desire to keep the diffusion line going. Without a doubt, Mizrahi helped spearhead the designer collaboration trend, which is more ubiquitous now than ever.

Other such lines in the burgeoning trend include Urban Outfitters’ partnerships with the likes of Charlotte Ronson and Grey Ant, or Vera Wang and Dana Buchman for Kohls, and, of course, now even Wal-Mart, who recently debuted designs from Norma Kamali. Payless likewise continues to forge ahead thanks to new diffusion lines from Alice + Olivia and Lela Rose. Needless to say, I’ll miss Isaac for Target immensely—so much so that I might be curling up on the couch with Unzipped later tonight.
