It Came From The 90s: Jamie Foxx & Martin Lawrence Make Your Week
November 09, 2009
Hollywood used to be the place where your dreams came true, but now it’s a place where mine do. Jamie Foxx and Matin Lawrence will be combining their cross dressing comedic talents when they reprise their roles as In Living Color’s Wanda and Martin’s Sheneneh in a future movie project announced today. Jennifer Lopez shouldn’t have the monopoly on In Living Color alums making terrible life decisions, right? From Kim to Jim, everyone should have their chance. Variety informs the uninformed that the project “originated as a parody of a movie trailer for a film called ‘Skank Robbers,’ which Foxx and Lawrence made for the BET Awards. The reaction was strong enough that the duo decided to turn the concept into a real film.” SKANK ROBBERS!
It’s a sobering day in a weekday BlackBook night blogger’s life when he recognizes the futility of his creative endeavors. And with the announcement of Skank Robbers it is apparent that day is today. Have you seen I Might Need Security or Bad Boys II? Ugh, alone these two brilliant physical comedians coming together is sexy like Euclidean geometry, but combine that with skank robbing? IS YOUR SKANK ROBBING MIND BLOWN!? IS THERE A HYPHEN IN SKANK ROBBERS? Anyway, I really hope you don’t think me ironic or assume the greenlighting of such a project some ridiculous farce, a commentary on the deterioration of cultural values on par with a bad viral marketing campaign for a cell phone, but this nostalgic tickle will be steeped in hilarity that much Screen Gems and I can assure you. See you soon, Tommy Davidson.
