“Justice Fee” for Americans in Argentina
Bryce Longton
October 09, 2008
Argentines coming to America are charged a $131 entrance fee to enter the USA, as are all visitors from countries not participating in the Visa Waver Program. Starting January 1, 2009, Argentina is fighting fire with fire -- or dollars with pesos -- by imposing a fee of their own on American visitors. Brazil, Bolivia, and Chile have already enacted entrance fees ($100, $130, and $130 respectively) for US tourists, which are reciprocal to the fees their citizens are charged to enter the States. Argentine Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo refers to the fee as "an act of justice."
