Kristen Stewart’s Epiphany: Fame Is Cold & Desolate, Like Vampires

Famed bottom-lip biter Kristen Stewart says there is some parallel poetry between the vampires of Twilight and the life of fame and riches that the movies' roles have brought about for their young stars. Which really is the sort of startling conclusion that would've helped the past couple generations of child stars age a lot more gracefully. Maybe Stewart's exceptional worldview is just part of a sea change for many young celebrities quickly learning to adapt to the ruthlessly fickle rhythms of celebrity culture. But she presents co-star Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen as a bleak metaphor for celebrity. She says, "Edward is actually a really good parallel to fame."
“As a vampire, he has a sad, desolate life—fame is the same.” Too true, K-Stew! It’s lonely at the top. Because when you’re reportedly raking in at least $12 million to bite your lower lip, there really is no one else—apart from those already lingering in that same dark chamber of celebrity shame—who can “get” you. The rest of us will just bitterly bray about how you act by biting your lower lip, hoping that no one finds the joke tiresome. But Stewart’s candidness is refreshing. She adamantly wants to avoid becoming too A-list. “I don’t want to be a movie star like Angelina Jolie. Nothing about being a celebrity is desirable. I’m an actor. It’s bizarre to me that everybody’s so obsessive.” It’s like growing up in a Hollywood universe and watching their peers, like Lindsay Lohan, implode so publically, young would-be A-listers tread showbiz turf with more practiced reservation than even venerable Oscar darlings.
But the rest of us could make the argument that if fame is a lot like being a vampire, then what about the wild mischief that the coterie of vamps and fangbangers get into over at True Blood?

To the writer of this… whatever this is - You do realize that the quotes you based your entire “story”
on came from a rag on the level of the national enquirer, right?
I guess when you’re considered a journalist for constantly regurgitating crap form other “journalists”
a little thing like verifying quotes probably just seems like too much work.
I mean at least be interesting and make up your OWN effing kstew quotes.

Kristen Stewart is a very good actress. I am a fan. The craze surrounding twilight will pass...and ignoring the ugly is a smart strategy. Being respectful of fans is really important, but remembering that this pinnacle of mania is just that, is what is most important. keep working Kristen! Your skill is amazing.

Alright, let me begin on the topic.
First off, Kristen Stewart is an actress not a celebrity. I admire her honesty and understand what she is saying. Acting is a form of art not an ‘attention seeking’ career. People like Lohan are NOT actresses they are attention seekers. Now before you go into the acting industry you have 3 possibilities:
1) Fall flat on your face. Not get an acting job and have no money.
2) You will get a ‘big break’ with a top box office movie. TA-DAH! You’re famous
3) You have acting jobs. Nobody knows who you are. However, you are happy because you get to do what you love, acting without the paparazzi. Such as indie films, small TV shows, or a theatre company.
Kristen Stewart was possibility 3 (She had the upper hand because her parents are in the industry). Twilight made her possibility 2. Her problem was she was not prepared for all three possibilities and she started acting at such a young age she didn’t consider this then. She should’ve been aware of this before she signed on to Twilight and she wasn’t; nobody was.
So, if the fame really gets to her after the Twilight movies are over, if she wants she could retire from acting and eventually people will forget about her. Or she can continue and get to do tons of different films because a lot of directors will want her. Finally, haters who don’t understand her words, well here it is laid out for you. And fellow fans I hope you agree with me on this. My rant is over.

I understand that some fans go way over the top but at the end of the day if there were no fans then the movies would be a total flop, just remember the fans are the ones that get the actors there big pay cheques by watching there movies

Lets compare Kristen Stewart and the Kardashian sister...One likes to act, the other likes to act stupid. Kristen Stewart wasn’t looking for a big break, she accidentally stumbled upon one, if you’ve ever watched an interview, the wide spread popularity comes as none other than a shock to her. Bella Swan and Edward Cullen are made up, they are not Kristen and Robbert. Kristen certainly an amazing actress, she isn’t getting enough credit because she bites her lip instead of showing her tits. It isn’t her fault that this book/movie is surrounded by crazed fans and journalists (like yourself, if you want to say that) are so focused on making sure Kristen and Robbert are dating, that they miss the whole point that you are the reason actors/actresses hate their job. Good job.
And to whom wrote this, way to make a huge ass of yourself, nice witty jokes…

In response to Alyssa on Tue Nov 3, 2009 at 12.32 pm, i think that you really have hit the nail on the head so to speak. She wasn’t interested in the level of fame no-one could predict would ensure with Twilight and even if she loves acting, she would have to retire to return to “low-key” acting. I’m an actress of indie films and I love it. Secretly, I am hoping for my big break but I dont desire to be followed and have my life recorded. I think she requests the same, but the downside of being notable is the fans and the hysteria.

Stephanie, thank you! I dont know if you noticed my massive rant in my earlier post but yeah i made a lot of points that i think you would agree on! I like your view of this. If you havent yet read my earlier post you should take a look at it.

In response to Shannon on Fri Nov 6, 2009 at 09.29 pm. Thank you. I’ve been wanting to make that point for a while. Im glad you understand. I am studying drama and hope to gain a career in acting, but I never hope for a huge amount of fame just ‘low-key’ acting, like you. I am also conducting a case study research project for like 50% of my grade and my research question is about Kristen Stewart’s career and the impact of the Twilight Franchise on it, so any articles or fan responsises i can get would be helpful.

Kristen’s hair and make-up looks good. But, the dress is ill fitting on her. Good interview.
