Lara Stone on Rehab, Pushing Models, & Letting Friends Feel Her Up
November 06, 2009
Wow. For anyone who has even remotely followed much-hyped model Lara Stone's rapid ascension to mannequin stardom this past year, the latest issue of Vogue UK is a must-read. In it, Stone (who will succeed Madonna as the face of Louis Vuitton this spring) really gets down to the nitty gritty. Fashionologie has posted a few excerpts from the profile of the November cover subject. And, man oh man is it juicy. First off, drugs were never a problem for the confessed recovering alcoholic. "I'd already tried everything in Holland. Anyway, I never wanted to be that model on drugs, the sort who gives head for a line of coke." Booze, on the other hand, was an entirely different issue. Apparently, just earlier this year, Stone went to rehab as a result of her alcoholism spiraling out of control. She's since sobered up and says she feels better than ever.
Stone also comments on food (a requisite subject given the fact that her size-4 figure has been front and center in much of fashion’s size debate): “if I could have the discipline to be super-skinny, I would be.” Fortunately for Stone’s friends, she’s learned to embrace her curves. “Everyone’s seen them. My girlfriends love them—they play with them!” Sadly, such girl-on-girl hijinx haven’t translated to luck with boys: “Men don’t like me. I haven’t been on a date for six months. I’ve just started a club with a girlfriend called the We Hate Men But We Can’t Be Gay Club.” Don’t feel too bad for Stone; apparently she likes to prey on men’s weaknesses, finding what they hate the most and then doing “lots and lots of that.” And the aggression doesn’t stop there. In one backstage incident, when a model was blocking Stone from getting onto the runway and failed to move, Stone “pushed her.” Stone defends her behavior by noting “It was only a few stairs.”
