Los Do’s & Don’ts de la Revista Vicio

Those zany Canadians from Vice magazine infected the murky shores of Buenos Aires' Rio de la Plata last night with an ambitious, four-pronged assault on the sense and sensibilities of the local Argentine peoples. They had some Converse-sponsored skate-themed thing going on nobody I know went to in the afternoon, then some hipster polaroids on display at a gallery in San Telmo, then piggy-backed on a fun party for the opening of Roho Hair Boutique in Palermo, where Argentine pop stars like Soda Stereo frontman Gustavo Cerati (who spun in the back of the salon) and Miranda (who performed from a nearby balcony) get their shaggy locks did.

Though none of the scenesters at the Roho party knew there was a magazine affiliation (there were a bunch of other brands competing for attention), or “que carajo es Vais," everyone seemed to enjoy turning the salon into a full-on disco for the night. The Vice after party at downtown club Cocoliche (Buenos Aires’ answer to New York’s Santos Party House) seemed a little more like the Vice magazine parties we know and love: lots of wasted skater kids chugging crap beer and homoerotically punching each other to pulsing beats while disaffected dudes in black nut-huggers looked on from the fringes, all in the hopes of attracting one of the nine semi-hot females in attendance. Ah Vice ... what would Argentina’s aspiring hipsters do without you?
