Louboutin Declines Design
August 11, 2008
Lately, it's hard to find someone not designing a clothing line. Such work seems to be the second (or third, or fourth) career of every musician, actress, and desperate celebrity housewife. However, there's at least one person out there not treading too far from his normal path. Shoe demigod Christian Louboutin says he'll never stray and design clothing -- "Not interested." Sure, the opportunity has come up before, as he told Stella magazine: "I was approached to be a clothes designer [once]. I said, 'Are you crazy, why would you even consider that?' And they said, 'Well, you have a name.' There are so many good designers, so why would I put my name on clothes when I never wanted to do it?"
Louboutin would rather focus on making the most exquisite shoes on the planet. “I think that’s where the difference between my shoes and other shoes—I constantly recast, look at them, reshape. It’s not only a design, it’s a shoe. Meaning, if it has to be corrected 10 times, it will be corrected.” Well said, monsieur ... your tireless effort to produce the perfect six-inch heel continues to deprive me of rent money.
