Steve Lewis, you know I love you to death, and I would never ever question or refute your personal and/or professional relationship with Peter Gatien, but come on-- “he has no soul” ?? All this while you sit back and ask us (yes, even those of us who were there too) to “forgive” Michael Alig?

“I always mistrusted Peter’s words, but I could see he was concerned...”

Really? A slight contradiction there, no?

Whatever, sweetie. You stand up for Alig, but please then also do not hold it against those of us who stand up for Peter Gatien (as I have, and gladly would again, stand up for you).

To say “A few drinks, a bout with drugs, a bad decision, and you or I could be cleaning up crumbs” is horseshit. Yes, we make bad decisions on drugs or drunk, but 99% of us haven’t murdered anyone. Intoxicated as we may be, we have a base sense of morality. There’s a word for Alig: sociopath. A psychiatrist might diagnose it as Dissocial Personality Disorder. If this happened in the UK he’d be put away for the rest of his life. Maybe that’d be for the better.

Michael Alig is not, and never was, important. He has as much historical cultural significance as The Cajun Chef or Clara Peller. He’s lost his right to interact with society, and the best we can do at this point is to stop feeding his ego and quit paying any mind to the narcissistic little bastard.

seems like you feel guilty for not doing enough to have saved someone from going to jail or someone dying. there’s nothing you could have done either way. i say let it go because i agree with seth that michael is a sociopath. i was 16 and partying like everyone else and i never killed or had any desire to kill anyone. so what if angel was a drug dealer, limelight was the factory. he didn’t deserve to die the way he did. that was a senseless evil attack on a human life.  michael should stay in jail for the rest of his life.

michael was my friend and i can help him if i want to. you dont have to. angel was a drug dealer and i dont have tears for them. you can cry if you want to.  abbe i stood up and shut up for peter when it really counted @ my relationship with him is sometimes a contradiction. as for seth are you a criminal pysch or judge or did you just stay at a holiday inn express last night?

did michael even kill angel? was he capable of killing him?
i always heard it was 2 queens getting into a fight and then Freeze beat Angel to death with a hammer.

it seems that freeze almost killed him with a hammer as angel was choking michael. then instead of calling for an ambulance to help the dying drug dealer michael cracked out of his mind and on probation for a previous crime smothered him. this was a senseless and unnecessary action which was made worse when they chopped up and tried to get rid of the body. it is unreal that michael had this in him. he doesnt ever deny it and a recent letter is filled with a desire to do anything to make amends. he fully realizes that this is not possible.

It’s incrediable that now after so long...people have so much to say about the tragedy...not even really knowing how the tragedy occured or what led up to it. Only Michael and the ones that helped him carry out the actual murder KNOWS WHAT OCCURED. He’s serving the time given to him. He is the one that has to live with the memory of such a horrendous demise.

I’m curious to know when he may be released? If anyone has a clue please let me know!

I watched the documentary on Alig this morning, I must admit, Alig seemed like a wonderful guy. I really think that FREEZE should have been held responsible for it, I believe Alig was panicing when this happened and tried to stop Angel. Yes, I know they should have called the ambulance right away, but when your high Im sure you cant function well. Alig though he was untouchable, he didnt feel a bit of remorse. Which Im pretty sure he does now. I feel bad that Angel had to die and I feel bad for Alig’s condition now. I believe in order for him to find peace in himself, he needs to forgive himself, then ask for forgiveness from the Melendez family, no matter what. maybe hell get out, maybe not.. Lets hope he sets a new example of himself.

I used to party at Limelight back in the early 90’s when I was in my drug use party state and I did run into Michael a couple times. I wasn’t friends with him, just conversed with him a couple of times, mainly about drugs. Everyone there at that time was into the drug scene, and to beleive that Michael is this horrible person and played a major role in Angel’s murder is bologna to me. I don’t look at Michael as a murderer, moreso a legend who kept me entertained. When he gets out and needs a place to stay here in NYC..my door is open for him. He’s not a murderer in my eyes.

i have been wanting to write to angles mom but don’t where to reach her. if at all possible i want her to know that i pray for her soul to find the strenght and peace she needs to carry on. we are mothers and we grieve for the our children. it is not up to anyone to judge either. has anyone seen michael...held him...seen him sob… seen his body shake for all the pain he has caused? if you haven’t, hold you peace. he is my son and i know how he feels.
some say that i am strong to have stood by him all these years. but i am not strong at all. at the end of the day, i am alone with my thoughts that let me feel the love i have for my son.

This is just a quick remark about Michael.  Michael is fine and he is suppose to get out in early 2010.  If Elke wanted to make amends with the Melendez family, she should have been in the court room.  Michael is a grown man now.  Middle age.  Not a child.  I am sure he will do the right things when he gets out, because if he doesn’t he will be back in prison for much longer.  I am sure he will be fine.  Oh, by the way.  Angel’s name was Andre, not Angel.  He deserves a little respect.  The past is the past.  Time to let Michael move on.

Why is there so much fasination about this case and Michael Alig?  I ask because I am very facinated and don’t understand why. I watch Party Monster (the movie) about once a month as if I am paying homage to the world Michael created. I don’t really pay attention to the horrible crime that Michael committed and I should. I dismiss it like almost everyone else. Do people feel that Alig was an anit-hero? I think there is a longing among everyone who dismisses Alig’s crime to return to or get involved in that world...or at least keep it alive for one reason or another.

I believe some of us just like to watch, listen, read, etc. some of the strangest things.  Michael was different.  His life was a life that I don’t think anyone could write about because it would take forever.  I am sure each day Michael was in New York City, would be a chapter.  He made a horrible mistake when he committed a murder.  We all have made mistakes, but murder.  No.  I can’t judge the pain of any mistake whether it was Michael’s or our own mistakes.  But, we get interested and stay interested.  Michael will be out next year and hopefully he will be started a new scene.  A good scene.  We can only hope.
