New York: Southside Bar Opens

The downtown socialite set (you know, those uptown kids with giant lofts downtown) have a new hang, and it's conveniently located right around the corner from La Esquina -- a new spot to wild out after your Serge Becker-approved quesadillas. Formerly known as Bella's under Bar Martignetti, Southside herds the cool kids down a long hallway into a dark, midsized room with lots of plastic trees and tunes courtesy of upmarket DJs like Nick Cohen. It's a little bit of heyday-era Bungalow 8 minus the inconvenience of the arduous trek.

Was there last night...$9 beers, only to be blown away that they include 20% gratuity to every bar tab...but had a great time before I saw the bill
