Nick Denton + Pancakes Painting Back Up for Charity Auction
Chris Mohney
March 04, 2009
Once more, with feeling. The painting of Gawker Media's Nick Denton with pancakes on his head, so movingly rendered by artist Dan Lacey and won by us fair and square, is now back up on the block for auction once again. And this time it's for a good cause.
The painting originally fetched over five Benjamins, but we’re starting it out at less than a tenth of its most recent sale price. All proceeds from the auction will go to benefit New York Cares (charity chosen by way of subliminal guilt from Andrew Krucoff). Help prove that art really is recession proof, and bid now. Final winner may also be eligible for a bonus brunch order of apple cinammon pancakes at Balthazar. Auction ends March 14.
