Openings: White Elephant Loft, Nantucket

There once was a ... er, never mind. There is Nantucket's elegant White Elephant Hotel, and both it and its swanky Brant Point Grill restaurant have not only hosted politicos, power brokers, and film-festival A-listers, but the place also calls the John Kerry clan neighbors. So what better destination to haul your entire entourage off to for a few days of communal high-living? The just-debuted White Elephant Loft offers up two stories, three bedrooms, and 3,000 square feet of "Big Chill"-worthy weekending.
The understatedly chic space features a library and sitting room, wraparound fireplace, dining area for ten, and a fully technofied gourmet kitchen (sadly, there’s no actual elephant in the room). Access to the hotel’s spa and other facilities are included in the reasonable rates. But we suggest just ordering up 50 or thereabouts bottles of champers from room service and simply sozzling the weekend away with several of the most treasured people in your life—to ensure, as one Albert Camus put it, “an invincible summer.”
