Prince Richard Sits Atop Eden Rock
The venerable artist previews never-before-seen works in St. Barths.

It used to be so easy, back when Richard Prince stuck to Marlboro Men and Andalusians. Now, he's all tearing up the American flag, decapitating heads, and brandishing automatics. This December, from the 18th until February 28th, Prince, in conjunction with the Gagosian Gallery, will unveil about a dozen new paintings at the Eden Rock Hotel Gallery in St. Barths. The whole thing is very high art meets hotel slippers. Owners David and Jane Matthews even encourage guests to pick up their own brushes. The paintings will be for sale. —N.H.
