Sacha Baron Cohen Sucks Tampons @ Stella McCartney

Sacha Baron Cohen made an appearance at Paris Fashion Week yesterday. Specifically, the actor was at Stella McCartney, causing a ruckus as Bruno, the lead character in his upcoming flick. As British Vogue put it: “With his red thong clearly visible above his jeans, the comedian -- who was virtually unrecognizable in a flamboyant leather gilet, with his slicked-down hair dyed blonde and brown -- sucked Tampax, clapped along to the music and generally disgruntled the front row by continually pushing those sitting in front of him for a better look at the models ... who held their own -- and won a lone standing ovation from their most eccentric, and possibly biggest, new fan.”

The downright ridiculous display isn’t Cohen’s SS09 Fashion Week first. Last week, he hit Milan, making stops at Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Iceberg, Mariella Burani, and Roberto Musso—and meanwhile pissing off countless uptight fashionistas. Some of the fashion crowd’s feverish offense to Cohen’s antics reminds me of something Rachel Zoe remarked in the season premiere of her new Bravo reality series: “It’s clothes. We’re not saving lives.”
