SERENDIPITY: A classic boy-meets-girl tale of love at first sight. You know, the old yarn where soulmates meet, fall in love, and then leave it up to Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

SLIDING DOORS: With the power of cinema and Ms. Paltrow’s considerable talent, this film gives us a blonde, a brunette, and the wisdom of hindsight in the present. Oh, and romance. It’s really a great little package.

SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE: IMDB summary: “Annie goes to great lengths to meet Sam.” Throw in some humorous hijinks and you’ve got yourself a rom-com by numbers.

MEET JOE BLACK: Who knew that death and love were so inextricably linked? Brad Pitt, that’s who. And that’s why he signed on to tell this morbidly obese story of love (at first sight, duh) and death. One thing, though: if even death can find love, what the hell is wrong with you? (And by you, we mean us. And by us, we’re really just talking about one blogger.)
