Sneak Peek at Beth Ditto for Evans

Images from The Gossip frontwoman and recently minted fashion icon Beth Ditto's capsule collection for Brit retailer Evans have finally arrived. And, fortunately, it looks as though Ditto has taken the new venture in stride, nailing her debut designing effort. Not surprisingly, the collection is heavy on sequins and 80s-inspired silhouettes and styles (Ditto has never exactly been one for demure clothing). The line is slated to hit stores on July 9 (both online and in the UK) and will include a corset dress and motorcycle jacket, as well as a handful of mini-dresses in graphic prints, a jersey romper worn oversized that hangs off the shoulder, and a knit dress with polka dots and half of the profile of a woman's face that's sure to be one of the collection's biggest hits.

But that’s not to say Ditto and Evans are the only ones forging new territory in the previously forgotten market of plus-size fashion. The New York Times notes “other stores and designers have picked up the message. Forever 21, a purveyor of cheap chic, introduced its plus-size line, Faith 21, this spring. Target recently began offering Pure Energy, exuberantly patterned dresses and tops for young women. Those follow hip niche labels like Karen Kane and Kiyonna, which are sold at boutiques.”
