Spiked Apple Cider for Blair to Win Back Chuck
October 26, 2009
Last week on Gossip Girl, many of the characters took a cue from the show's queen of manipulation, Blair Waldorf. Nate lied to Serena, Vanessa lied to Dan, Dan lied to Olivia, Olivia lied to Rufus and Lily. Most tragically of all, Blair lied to Chuck, her man and partner in crime. (She manipulated him into seducing a male NYU alum so she could give the freshman toast.) Last season of GG was dedicated to the tumultuous on and off, "I love you," "I don't love you." Every time Chuck changed his mind, Blair would cry, and I would too (a little). But this season promised to move past all that. They're finally in a committed relationship; we see Blair waking up in Chuck's bed while he strolls around in a silk robe. This is romance, people.
He helps her make friends at NYU; she encourages him to buy hotels. Until now, that is, when Blair has f’d shit up so badly that I fear Chuck and B are headed to season two melodrama all over again. Fans of the show are freaking out. E! asks, “Are Chuck and Blair Already Over?” Blair’s relationship with Chuck needs just as much help as Leighton Meester needs cutting a single.
Blair has to fix this situation, asap. She’s got to act un-Blair-like in order to prove to Chuck that she’s going to change her ways, at least for him. Now that Blair is studying at lowly NYU, she should do something humble and sweet (and a little labor intensive). Like making homemade spiked apple cider. (Well, having Daroda make it—let’s be real.) Tonight we’ll see where we stand. Here’s to hoping Blair and Chuck work shit out.
Spiked Apple Cider
2 quarts apple cider
1 cup apple brandy
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cardamom
Cinnamon sticks, to taste
In a large pot, combine all of the ingredients over high heat and bring to a simmer. Lower the heat and keep warm. To serve, strain through a fine sieve and pour into mugs. Garnish with cinnamon sticks.
