The Tuesday Night that Wouldn’t End

Most of the time, after a drawn-out night in New York, we come to work on time, pulled together—a little tired, but kempt. Today is not one of those days. The city was busy last night. Kanye played 1Oak, the MoMA hosted an event for the release of HBO's Recount—stay tuned for our candid interview with actress Laura Dern—while GQ and Stoli Vodka threw down in the West Village. We didn't make any of these.
First up, straight from work, was the Summer Lovin’ party at Blue & Cream, hosted by Charlotte Ronson and Sophomore‘s Chrissie Miller. Society folks could be found eating ice cream and drinking Svedka, while perusing the racks—not exactly the best combination in retrospect. A Japanese fashion magazine was doing a feature on bow ties. We were accosted, flattered, and out of there.
Next, we booked it uptown to the Hudson Hotel for the Sunglass Hut festivities—more on that later—but found ourselves at the wrong event. So, we settled in to christen the opening of the Sky Terrace with crème brûlée and antioxidant drinks. It soon got cold.
On to the West Village for the Women’s Health “Down to Earth” bash hosted by recent BlackBook cover girl Chloë Sevigny. Jessica Stam played turntablist for the night, until the wonderful Nicole Atkins took the stage with the Sea. A spy told us that one of the Olsens was on her way. We never spied her.
Next stop: Bowery Hotel, for the Entertainment Weekly party we forgot to RSVP to. We couldn’t get in. Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Janice Dickinson, and “ANTM” Cycle 8 Jaslene did, however. (Also, we’re not too proud to say we hopped on an elevator up to the third floor, then took the fire escape stairwell down to the back entrance of the event. We were good, but security was better.)
Finally, it was off to George Gurley’s birthday party at the Beatrice Inn. Happy birthday, George!
And now we’re at the office, looking like shit.
