I know I’m probably in the minority here, but I’ve always found Tom Ford’s persona a bit contrived, a bit too studied.  He pretends to dislike the “it” items in the fashion world, but it’s laughable because it’s so completely and naturally his milieu.  Without Rudi Gernreich, Geoffrey Beene, and Halston to draw from, he really wouldn’t have had much of career.
