‘Vanity Fair’ Shocker: Robert Pattinson Loves Being Drunk

Robert Pattinson, he's just like us! Or so says Vanity Fair in their new profile -- excerpts of which are online -- of the most famous British actor in the world. The cover story, which hits newsstands in New York and L.A. on November 4, reveals a young man so shredded by self-consciousness that he has to drink constantly to buff the edges of his social awkwardness. And here I thought I was the only one.

Evgenia Peretz is the lucky writer who got to spend time with the actor in his San Diego hotel room, which she describes as being “littered with beer bottles.” Clue number two that Pattinson may have a wee drinking problem comes when he tells Peretz that prior to his Twilight audition, he had been “getting drunk for a year.” Rrrright. The third tip-off to RPatz’s hooch addiction comes courtesy of a quote from Catherine Hardwicke, who was let go as director after the first Twilight became an international phenomenon. She says Pattinson was “always drunk,” playing the guitar for Kristen Stewart and other cast members in his hotel room. And you thought we were lying when we saw him at the Beatrice Inn, wasted.
