I think lady gaga is AWESOME. Lots of people agree with me too, just look at this poll of her vs beyonce http://www.dipoll.com/?p=668 ...if you appreciate lady gaga vote for her too to help her win!

That's a pretty weak claim about power or influence being based on comparison of online youtube hits of a single music video to distribution of a monthly print publication that as a brand reaches millions online as well. Mind you vogue readers actually BUY those copies, not just voting with their index finger. Just a thought....

This is utterly ridiculous and irrelevant. You're comparing a music industry star to the star of the fashion industry...how does that make Gaga more powerful than Anna? I would hardly say that Gaga is an authority of fashion, much less a fashion icon considering her fashions are to most considered atrocious and just plain weird, and not in an innovative way. Lady Gaga's work is popular now, but her current fame and trendiness will pass, while Anna and the legacy she has created will last forever.

The two are in entirely different categories. Lady GaGa's popularity is not extended entirely over fashion audiences; her fans include those interested in music, celebrity and pop culture, video, fashion and a whole list of other interests. Anna Wintour's magazine is directed solely at those interested in the fashion industry. The trends and styles she sets within the magazine become the standard for every fashion-minded person. While GaGa's outfits are interesting in the way she takes runway looks directly to the street, her image is not something regularly sought after. Anna holds such power over the industry, she, unlike GaGa, is able to influence the most famous designers directly, giving advice which is seldom ignored.
