After spending years celebrating and making an arm of her career out of sporting other people’s contributions to the fashion world, actress, model and burlesque performer Dita Von Teese is bringing her pinup girl-inspired aesthetic to her first fashion line. The Bettie Page-loving performer, who has previously modeled for the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood, has designed lingerie for Wonderbra in addition to working as a costume designer, a process she studied in college and which impacted her bombshell outfits for burlesque shows.

Von Teese’s five-piece line, created in conjunction with Lime Door Brands of Australia, takes root in her personal style and will have that same feel. Ruth La Ferla of the New York Times calls the four dresses and trench-coat, which will make their first appearances at Decades in Los Angeles on September 19th and be priced between $600 and $900, “equal parts practicality and racy hauteur.”

“A stripper can be a fashion plate,” she told La Ferla. “Think of Gypsy Rose Lee.” Gypsy is probably a pretty tame reference point considering some of Von Teese’s other work, but nevertheless, Dita, here’s hoping you’ll be swell; you’ll be great.
