Of all of the fashion week events I've attended so far, last night's bondage-themed Oak party at NYC's infamous gay leather bar, the Eagle, was by far the hardest to get in to. And I'm talking about for those partygoers who had RSVP'd (of which there were rumored to be upwards of 1,000). After a significant wait and a lot of slithering, I found myself inside the three-floor club. While the second floor was thumping with particularly dark and devious dance music courtesy of DJs Justin Miller and Jacques Renault, the rooftop was chock-full of pretty young things -- most of whom had taken the night's bondage theme to heart (in other words, black and leather abounded).
The fête honored Oak's newly launched pop-up shop in its Bond Street store. Limited-edition bondage-themed wares are on sale from a variety of designers, including Alex and Chloe, Jeffrey Campbell, Gar-de, Vena Cava, Boyfriend, and Black Sheep and Prodigal Sons. While I haven't checked out the goods myself; I'll be sure to do so in the coming week. But perhaps even a higher priority on my post-fashion week schedule is checking out the twice-monthly foot fetish parties (like the one held last night) that the Eagle will host on its first floor come October. Finally, something for all walks of life.
