At the Juan Carlos Abando SS09 collection presentation yesterday in Chelsea, there were plenty of feminine, intricately crafted frocks that would whet any fashion-lover's appetite. There were also, if you looked closely in the smokey space, unique copper cuffs covering the forearms of a few of the models. The jewelry was courtesy of cinema scion and filmmaker Liz Goldwyn, whose one-of-a-kind, eponymous accessories line retails at the likes of Barneys New York and Colette.

When I caught up with Goldwyn backstage after the show, I asked about her all-time favorite films, sartorially speaking. The question is not one that Goldwyn takes lightly, and for good reason. She assured me that she could give lengthy answers on films according to designers, according to themes, and so on (she has, after all, curated entire exhibits based on this topic). But, to keep it simple, in honor of his recent passing, Goldwyn opted for those films for which Yves Saint Laurent created the costumes -- namely Mississippi Mermaid, The Hunger, and Belle du Jour. And as for the classics that she continually returns to? "Fellini. The first film that I saw was 8 1/2," she told me. "And Roma for the ecclesiastical fashion show! I mean, it's a fashion show with nuns!"
