John Mayer wasn't the only low point Jessica Simpson chatted about in her interview with Oprah earlier this week. When asked by Queen O what her lowest point was in the past few years, Simpson replied "probably the mom jeans situation." This coming from a woman who, in recent years, has been involved not only with Mayer Douche but also Dane Cook and Proactiv.
The "mom jeans" low point Simpson speaks of occurred in January 2009 at the Chili Cook Off in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Wearing a high-waisted jean, chunky belt, and black tank, Simpson appeared a bit thicker than her norm, and the media quickly jumped on it with the body sensitivity they're known for, with such headlines as "Jessica Simpson: This is How She Rolls" (TMZ) and "Jessica Simpson Shocks Fans With Noticeably Fuller Figure" (Fox News). Talking to Oprah about the "incident" and the media's obsession with her weight, Simpson revealed, without any shame, that she "actually did eat a big ol' corn dog before [sporting the infamous mom jeans on stage]." Nice. When O asked Simpson about how she feels about how she looks now, she said "I love my curves, I'm not ever going to be a size zero and I don't want to weigh 90 pounds." Wow, could this be ushering in a new era of Jessica-Simpson feminism? Perhaps after Mayer and mom jeans, it's her next logical next step.
