Don't put away your flags yet kids -- this week just got even more patriotic. Despite all the international fashion week switcheroos going on these days, what with Z Zegna expatting to Milan (or does that count as a homecoming?) taking the spot of Burberry Prorsum after creative director Christopher Bailey moved the show to its native land of London, it's nice to see New York getting a little piece of the love. Tomorrow, May 28, will be known as Burberry Day in the Big Apple, and what better way to officiate such a fete than to change up what may be the most iconic thing about New York City: the skyline.

The new 444 Madison Avenue headquarters will lose the "New York Magazine" crest to accommodate the Burberry logo atop the crown that already bears the time and temperature, but it's clear the addition of the beloved label tells us what time it really is -- time to stop blaming fashion as the cashmere scapegoat of the recession and move on with wearable art, perhaps? In addition to the fancy decoration above the headquarters, five other locations in NYC will also bear the seal of London's finest export, all part of an event celebrating the monumental year for the brand. But I'm forced to ask the inevitable; wouldn't it have been cheekier to give the building its own coat of classic novacheck?
