It contains items such as a crayon box and a key ring, but the PUMA Reality Bag No. 2 is hardly child’s play. Marking the second collaboration between the sportswear megalith and Swiss artist John Armleder, this portable art exhibit is based upon the show 30 Americans, sponsored by the Rubell family in Miami, which features the creative genius of African-American titans such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Hank Willis Thomas, Kara Walker and Kehinde Wiley.
Works are imprinted with artist statements and sketches, while film by Jennifer Rubell, uploaded onto a USB stick, adds to the largesse. Unfortunately, only 500 take-out-size galleries were produced. If you didn’t receive one at the Rubell Art Basel Miami VIP breakfast and you’re not a power player in the contemporary art world, acquiring one may rank up there with snagging a Birkin. The bags will be available on April 15, exclusively at PUMA Black stores in New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
