Brad Pitt is following in the footsteps of Derek Lam and teaming with Kiehl's to create the first Cradle-to-Cradle design-certified beauty product. But this isn't a traditional celebrity endorsement; Pitt won't be paid for participating, and the actor won't appear in ads. Rather, Pitt and Kiehl's are partners in a charity drive. All of the net profits from the sales of the Kiehl's Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser will go to a foundation created by Pitt and Kiehl's to "support global environmental initiatives that minimize impact on the environment through thoughtful design."
The first beneficiary of the expected $1 million raised is naturally Pitt's charity Make It Right foundation, which builds environmentally sustainable homes for those displaced by Hurricane Katrina. According to author and architect William McDonough, Pitt is not just a pretty face: "I particularly like working with Brad. He is a designer. He has a great eye and sense of perspective. He loves design and has a passion for it." Look for the product in all Kiehl's stores and online by October.
