In his first-ever pre-spring collection, Christopher Kane has served up an extremely eye-catching array of dresses and separates that don't skimp on color or drama. "Hyper-colored mushroom-cloud prints, sourced from free public-access photos on the U.K. Ministry of Defense Web site" mark nearly every look in the collection. Given the state of foreign affairs and specifically North Korea's recent nuclear testing, mushroom clouds aren't exactly an image one would necessarily want to confront on a daily basis. But when viewed in a high-voltage palette on Kane's feminine frocks, one can help but hope to own nearly every piece in the pre-spring line.
If you can't afford Kane's higher-end price point, don't fret. Shabd Simon-Alexander's namesake collection Shabd stocks much of the same vivid, otherworldly appeal of Kane's frocks. The NYU grad sells her hand-dyed galactic leggings, bodysuits, tees, and shorts exclusively in Japan, as well as online via her site. And even more good news: Shabd accessories and jewelry are still to come.
