While Courtney Love has most recently made headlines for a number of controversial tweet storms and custody battles over her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, she's now making waves for an entirely different reason: a new site called Whatcourtneyworetoday.com. Ever since Courtney Love traded in her grunge wardrobe for a now-iconic Versace gown at a Vanity Fair party back in 1997, she's been steadily building her fashion presence. She even played Alexander Wang's SS10 after-party last September. "The site, comprising photographs replete with captions and a stream of snarky commentary, chronicles Love’s outfits and wardrobe changes on a daily basis," says Women's Wear Daily of the site that Love-sanctioned web destination, which she's called "a social experiment."
While Love isn't exactly blogging on the site, her contributions come in by way of "cohorts [known] as T, L and X" as well as an anonymous blogger. "T is this girl from my management, a third- or fourth-row junior Tavi, who somehow likes rock ’n’ roll, too, and ended up coming on the road with me until a few days ago, and L works at a fashion magazine. They are these little fashionistas," Love explains of her sartorial crew. Essentially, Love provides a photo of an ensemble while her minions provide text and context for the outfit. The final product, put simply, reads a lot like sartorial pandering. The site as a whole seems to be trying hard to prove Ms. Cobain's fashion cred, but considering most of the photos date back a good decade, it's more like Love's Labor Lost.
