I’ve long been convinced fashion designers are at least somewhat psychic. Honestly, how else could they design collections for seasons six months or more in advance and still be on-point with regard to trends, palette, et al? This is exactly the reason I personally find Men.Style.com’s feature Forward Thinkers, which asks a slew of top-notch designers what their vision of the future entails, pure genius.

So, what exactly will it look like? Dries Von Noten predicts, “the current sartorial individualist attitude of men’s dressing will continue. Yet what was almost exclusively sharp, angular and urbane may now be beginning to melt every so slightly around the edges.” For Giorgio Armani, it entails “a return to more elegant, classic dressing.” And, seeing the silver lining of the current economic crisis, war, etc, Patrick Ervell suggests, “from a creative standpoint, chaos and collapse can lead to great things and new beginnings. I think a little bit of creative destruction can be healthy and bracing.” For the rest of the nearly a dozen predictions of fashion’s future (showcased alongside said designers canonized as comic book subjects), click here.
