In the UK, Mark Fast is synonymous with knitwear. And as of this past London Fashion Week, he's also known for causing quite a bit of controversy as a result of casting a handful of plus-size models for his runway show. (His body-conscious dresses call to mind a spiderweb in terms of complex construction.) But this week, Fast is grabbing headlines for a different reason: the Canadian designer is the latest to be tapped by Topshop to design a capsule collection.

Fast is a graduate of Central Saint Martins (the London design school that has produced such stellar talents as Gareth Pugh and Christopher Kane, the latter of which recently teamed up with Topshop) and since worked under Lanvin's Alber Elbaz. The pick isn't especially surprising, given the fact that Topshop helped support Fast's premiere collection thanks to sponsorship via its NewGen program. No word on when exactly the line is hitting outposts (and online for shoppers not based in London or NYC); but most likely aspiring Fast fanatics can expect intricate knits at a fraction of the designer's typical price point sometime around the holiday season.
