Back in January I noted that Betsey Johnson had teamed up with Opening Ceremony to reissue a number of her classic designs from past decades in honor of this year's welcoming the 30th anniversary of her namesake fashion house. Well, images of looks, which will hit the NYC-born retailer's racks this fall, have arrived. Get ready to start salivating. Dazed Digital has images from the collection, simply called the Betsey Johnson Archive Collection, which, not surprisingly, is perfectly Betsey: think in your face floral graphic prints and fun, 80s club appropriate silhouettes ornamented with exposed zippers and cut-outs.
What is surprising is how relevant Johnson's designs feel for today. Aside from the obvious 80s leanings which have been permeating fashion for the last few seasons, the designs harbor a distinctly whimsical feel which feels especially appropriate in more somber times. Also over at Dazed, an interview with the designer about the collaboration, where she muses on her favorite pieces ("those black, dark punk Eighties times") and more.
