Gilt Groupe isn't just hawking high-fashion brands with household names—they're highlighting emerging designers as well. The weekly "new emerging designer series" will take place every Sunday night and feature fledgling designers, some of whom you've likely heard of, some not. So far, Gilt Groupe seems to have amassed a pretty impressive crew: Grant Krajecki of Grey Antics, Michelle Williams of Quail, and Mallyce Miller of Laeken. The opportunity is a huge one for any independent designer asked to participate, given the unrivaled exposure. And, for shoppers looking to score unique duds at heavily discounted prices, it's a pretty tempting prospect.
In light of the new series, Gilt Groupe's blog has taken to profiling each of the designers with a short and sweet Q&A. So far, Grey Antics' camp says, "If my line were a drink, it would be: a dirty Martini." Williams offers, "One of the most memorable days in my career was when: I was invited to go to the MTV Music Awards. I had an endless amount of options, but I confidently chose a Quail dress that made me feel like a million bucks. I knew at that moment I had designed something that encapsulated the Quail girl." As for Laeken, "If my line were an animal, it would be: Pegasus."
