All eyes were on M.I.A. last night during a Grammy performance that will most definitely go down in the books as either batshit crazy or baller, depending on your stance regarding nine-month pregnant women rapping alongside the likes of Jay Z, T.I., and Kanye. While her enormous belly was impossible to ignore, the part-transparent, black-and-white polka-dot dress the singer-songwriter donned only helped to accentuate her extremely pregnant state. The designer responsible: Henry Holland.
The dress first appeared on Holland’s House of Holland SS09 runway last fall when he debuted a collection entitled “Sex, Lies & Volleyball.” In an interview published today in the Telegraph (in honor of the eccentric Brit designer’s upcoming collaboration with O2 Mobile Broadband Pay & Go Stick -- the House of Holland custom stick will be available February 27 at O2 stores and from the O2 online shop), Holland divulges a few intimate aspects of his personality. Most of note: If he were a politician, he’d make taxis part of public transportation; he is an incredibly skilled gymnast (although in another life he would have been a journalist); his favorite year was his 24th; and his philosophy on life is “just have fun.” The latter definitely seems to be something he and M.I.A. can agree on.
